Keano In Punch-up With Ferguson!

Filed under: UK Premiership — Administrator @ 5:43 pm

Not a headline as yet, but if you fancy one or two more unusual flutters on next seaon (2007/08) in the Premiership, Paddy Power are offering odds of 200/1 on Roy Keane having a sideline punch-up with Sir Red Face (select “Football Specials” from the Paddy Power menu). Quite whether those are good odds or not are questionable, but it would make a good story down the pub when you’re waving your wad about! And gives you a good reason to take a prawn sandwich down to the dug-out area (more…)

2007/2008 Coca Cola Championship Odds

Filed under: UK Football League — Administrator @ 10:39 pm

Corals has come up with the goods on next season’s Championship betting. Okay - let’s be fair, the line-up wasn’t finalised ’til Monday when the resurgent Blackpool hit a club-record 10th win on the bounce to take the playoff and join both Bristol City and Div1 Champs Scunthorpe in the Championship. Not surprsingly, these teams represent some of the best odds at Corals to win it: you can grab Scunthorpe at 100/1 while both Bristol City and Blackpool are 40/1. Actually, that’s a bit surprising seeing as Scunthorpe won Div 1…but anyway…there you go…

The teams that went the other way, Watford, Sheffield United and Charlton are among the favourites (more…)

07/08 Premiership Relegation Odds

Filed under: UK Premiership — Administrator @ 4:56 pm

With the 2007/08 Barclays Premiership once again likely to be a 4, if not 2, horse race, the best odds are going to be had by punters looking at the drop-zone no doubt! At the top, measly 6/4 odds on Man U and Chelski, or 5/1 on The Reds,  are about the best you are going to get (although Arsenal can be had at a fairly generous 10/1 according to our Premisership Odds Roundup). But down at the deep end, it’s a whole different ball game!

I’m writing this pre-season, so of course we are talking before Mourinho gets replaced with Glen Roeder, before Frankie Lampard gets whisked off to Barca’s multi-million pound subs bench, and before Shrek picks up an injury on England duty, but still, ToteSport are offering a whopping 5000/1 on either the Russians or the Americans going down next year. Yeah I know, it’s still a pipe dream, but someone out there will have a quid on that!

Looking at the more obvious contenders, there are still a few reasonably long odds deals around. I mean come on, were you expecting West Ham to be in the position they were on the last day of 2006/07? We knew they’d be bottom half, but with the Tevez factor you expected them to be well clear of trouble. Now Carlos has decided East London doesn’t compare to the sun-kissed beaches of Spain, or the historical architecture of the Arndale center, West Ham are a best odds 9/1 at BetFred and Bet365 to go down. That could nose-dive (more…)

Rammin’ It Home

Filed under: UK Premiership — Administrator @ 10:47 pm

Congrats to Derby County who join football’s elite and get a £60 million payday to go with the little silver trinket! Paul Pesky-so-and-so and the boys done good, and I guess you are wondering what odds you can get on lifting “the big one” next year, right? Sad to say (more…)

Arsenal vs Liverpool - A Classic

Filed under: Miscellaneous — Administrator @ 11:12 am

Harry Enfield’s classic comedy sketch featuring Arsenal of the 1930’s against Liverpool of the 1990’s for those who haven’t seen it. It’s a defining moment in British comedy and I just stumbled across it on Youtube. So okay, not one I can offer you long odds on, but it’s well worth a watch, especially if you have never seen it. Pure genius!

It’s Football League Playoff Time!

Filed under: UK Football League — Administrator @ 2:20 pm

Now AC Milan have exacted revenge for 2005,  the footy season is almost at an end in England and there’s so little to look forward to over the summer that we’re gonna be forced into betting on Big Brother and Stone, Paper, Scissors. Oh yeah, and horsies of course. But to finish the season off, we have the Footy League Playoff Finals - love ‘em or hate ‘em, they are always entertaining and there’s a few choice bets to be had IMO.

There’s always goals in these games, and if you fancy a 4-4 draw in the Derby/Baggies game, then Paddy Power will give you 500-1 . Sit on the fence, why not! Ladbrokes don’t offer 4-4 (more…)

World Cup 2010 - The Book’s Open!

Filed under: World Cup 2010 — Administrator @ 4:31 pm

Borat might be pleased to see that BetFred are offering meagre odds of 10,000-1 on Kazakhstan lifting the 2010 World Cup! He’ll probably have his sister, wife and a donkey riding on it but whether it’s worth you joining him I’m not so sure. Early days yes, but with England at a paltry 10-1 (along with Germany) in the same book, and considering they still have to go through 3 managerial changes and qualifying in Outer Mongolia first, you’d probably be better off taking the Early Bird on England’s World Cup Nemesis, Sweden at 80-1 ’cos if one thing’s for sure (more…)

2007/2008 Barclays Premiership Odds

Filed under: UK Premiership — Administrator @ 3:16 pm

Before I start, the pessimists among you might like to note that Blue Square have a book open on Premiership odds without the Big 4 (ie: coming 5th!).

Early days. Always the best time to grab a Premiership basement betting bargain and the bookies are out touting the race to win, or in some cases, buy, next season’s Premiership. You may laugh…it certainly sounds like a 4-horse race but fans of Berbatov and Keane might have a rueful smile at Corals 66-1 odds on Spurs who finished 5th this year. Although the same team are only 100-1 to go down. Toss a coin.

West Ham fans (more…)

Euro 2008 Early Bird Betting

Live in Wales? Rate their chances? Think they’ll even get there? Well Ladbrokes reckon you’re a mug and you can go get 2500-1 on them holding up the trophy at the end of it all. Even the Northern Irish can only get 350-1 on their team doing the busniess, while England are at a ridiculously low 8-1. Seriously, do they not watch England play? Unbelievable…I’d rather put my money on Wales, or even *gulp* Scotland who rate 150-1 right now.

Plenty of time left mind you - McClaren and the boys will probably codge up a couple of away games and before you know it, we’ll be 100-1 needing 3 pts from the last game away to qualify. I think I’ll wait!

More Champions League Final Long Punts!

Filed under: UEFA Cup/Champions League — Administrator @ 11:33 am

Ok so if the Jamie Carragher deal isn’t quite within your sights, how about some long odds on more potentially realistic scores. How about odds of 500-1 for Xabi Alonso to score first and Milan to win 3-2? That’s what Laddies are offering in their “Scorecast” service, and it’s not bad that actually. You could do the same result with John Arne Riise firing in the first for 450-1 as an alternative. Or take the mercurial Stevie Gerrard and get 250-1 if you’re easily scared!

Liverpool To Walk It?

Once again, good old Laddies are offering neat odds on Liverpool turning over Milan 4-1 (more…)
